This is a couple of huts from the old 2D demo version of the game Magicka.

Magicka is under full development into a 3D game by Arrowhead Game Studios. We're aiming at keeping the same style and feeling in the full game while improving gameplay and versatility, and the game is intended for Xbox Live Arcade. The 2D demo version of Magicka won Swedish Game Awards 2008.

I really like the feel to this. It seems like kind of a hybrid between painting and pixel art, with all of that detailed grass, but it doesn't feel too 'busy', either. Very nicely done.

Thank you so much for the comment. It is sort of a pixel-art hybrid. We started doing things pixel-style but with a bit of a more smoothed feel. Trying to keep the old style now with the 3D version but still making it new.

I've always liked houses built into the ground. Something about 'em just strikes me as charming. Like hobbit-holes. :D

I love it! the huts have a real lived-in historical feel, and the little details really make it work. I love how they look more like archaeological reconstructions than pixel art.
It may be because I spent too much time playing the original Age of Empires, but I love isometric games with this sort of theme.... I personally would be very happy to play the 2D version of this :D
